Indiana Consumer Data Protection Act (ICDPA) Takes Effect January 1, 2026

Effective: January 1, 2026
The Indiana Consumer Data Protection Act (ICDPA) grants Indiana consumers specific privacy rights over their personal data and sets requirements for how covered businesses collect, process, and protect that data.
Key Notes for Employers:
The ICDPA does not apply to individuals acting in an employment context or to employment-related data.
Covered businesses must comply with requirements around consumer data, including transparency, access, correction, deletion, and data portability rights.
Action Item for Employers:
Review whether your business is covered under the ICDPA.
Work with your Vida HR HRBP to ensure readiness for January 1, 2026, especially for any consumer-facing operations or data systems.
