2025 New State Pay Transparency Requirements

Several states have enacted new pay transparency laws requiring employers to include compensation information in job postings and other employment communications. Key upcoming deadlines include:
New Jersey
Effective June 1, 2025
Employers with 10 or more employees must:
Include hourly wage or pay range information and a general description of benefits and other compensation programs in job postings.
Make reasonable efforts to notify current employees of open positions.
Vermont
Effective July 1, 2025
Employers with 5 or more employees must:
Include the rate of pay or pay range in job postings.
Disclose if pay is based on commissions.
Massachusetts
Effective October 29, 2025
Employers with 25 or more employees must:
Disclose pay ranges in job postings.
Disclose pay ranges when offering current employees a promotion, transfer, or new position.
Employers with 100 or more employees will also be required to report wage data to the state.
