Colorado Expands FAMLI Leave for NICU Care

Effective: January 1, 2026
Beginning January 1, 2026, eligible employees may receive additional paid family and medical leave under Colorado's FAMLI program if their child is receiving care in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
This is in addition to the standard 12 weeks of FAMLI leave.
The added leave applies only in documented NICU care situations.
Employers should plan ahead to update FAMLI policies and leave tracking systems in 2026 to account for this extended leave scenario.
