Illinois Requires Leave for Funeral Honors Detail
Effective: August 1, 2025
Effective August 1, 2025, the Illinois Family Military Leave Act will be renamed the Military Leave Act and amended to require employers with 51 or more employees to provide up to eight hours of paid leave per calendar month for employees to participate in a funeral honors detail at the funeral of a veteran.
Note: The Act’s existing family military leave requirements remain unchanged.
