Louisiana Bans Discrimination Based on Military Status

ree
Effective: August 1, 2025

Effective August 1, 2025, the Louisiana Employment Discrimination Law (LEDL) is amended to add military status as a protected characteristic.

This means employers are prohibited from discriminating or taking adverse action against an employee or applicant because of their past, current, or prospective military service. This protection aligns with federal laws like USERRA but provides an added layer under state law.
