Maine PFML Benefits Begin May 1, 2026

Effective: May 1, 2026
Maine’s Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) program becomes fully operational on May 1, 2026, when eligible employees may begin taking leave.
All Maine employers with eligible employees in the state must be prepared to administer up to 12 weeks of paid leave under the program.
What This Means
Employees may begin taking PFML leave starting May 1, 2026
