Oklahoma Employment Law Changes Effective November 1, 2025

Effective: November 1, 2025
Oklahoma will implement several significant changes on November 1, 2025. Employers should review these updates to ensure compliance:
Expansion of Tip Credit, Meals, and Lodging Credit Under the Oklahoma Minimum Wage Act
The Oklahoma Minimum Wage Act will be amended to provide that:
Credit toward the minimum required wage can be given for any tips, gratuities, meals, or lodging received by nonexempt employees, as long as the employer pays the minimum direct cash wage required under federal law.
If the Oklahoma minimum wage exceeds the current federal minimum wage, credit can also be given for tips, gratuities, meals, or lodging.

Exclusion of Certain Employees from Workers' Compensation Coverage
The following individuals will be excluded from the definition of employee under Oklahoma's Administrative Workers' Compensation Act:
Dependent children of an owner of a farm or agricultural business where the dependent children are employed.
Individuals working in a temporary arrangement to observe a work environment and gain work experience without expecting pay.

Oklahoma enacts a law making certain uses of cellular phones and electronic communication devices unlawful on specific roads, with certain exceptions provided.
