Washington Limits Driver’s License Requirements
Effective: July 27, 2025
Beginning July 27, 2025, Washington employers of all sizes will be prohibited from requiring a driver’s license as a condition of employment, or stating in a job posting that applicants must have a driver’s license, unless driving is an essential function of the job or relates to a legitimate business purpose for the position.
For example, delivery drivers or roles that involve regular travel by car may still require a valid license.
